Young footballers in Monkton are sporting new playing kits this season, thanks to a generous donation from Valero Pembroke Refinery.

Monkton Swifts Under 10s team and the three coaches that support the club have been looking to expand the size of the team, and have been in great need of new playing kits and equipment. New club training tops, balls, cones, bibs and playing tops and shorts were provided by Valero’s community engagement programme.

Royston Workman, one of the coaches for the Under 10s team, said: “As a club we believe it is incredibly important to give young children a chance to enjoy and play sport in the community, and to be able to send our team out looking so professional will be wonderful for their development. We would like to thank Valero for their support in providing the playing kit and equipment for all the children.”

Refinery public affairs manager, Stephen Thornton, said: “It is incredibly encouraging to see young children getting involved in team sports such as football, which do so much to help build confidence at an early age. Pembroke Refinery has a long history of supporting youth sport in Pembrokeshire and we are delighted to continue our close relationship with Monkton Swifts by helping the Under 10s team with new kit.”
