Plans for two new 'traffic orders' in Tenby have met with a mixed reaction from local councillors.
At a meeting of Tenby Town Council on Tuesday night, members received proposals from Pembrokeshire County Council's traffic manager, John Price, on two locations in the town where 'no waiting at any time' parking restrictions are planned to be introduced.
Councillors gave the thumbs up to a section on The Croft, on the west side of the road close to the former Information Centre, but did not give their approval to one along The Norton, on the west side of the road, by the frontage of No. 5, which the authority plans to re-designate to allow vehicles to stop to load or unload.
"Personally I wouldn't be happy with the one on The Norton, I don't think they've thought that one through properly," commented Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter.
"A loading bay there could cause real problems on that road, just as the one up by the Market does, as people leave their cars there and abuse that space, and you also get a build up of other cars parking behind constantly and it causes traffic to build up going in and out of the centre.
"Plus there's only one shop on that section of The Norton. - does that really warrant a loading bay?" she queried.
Staying with parking matters, Clr. Lawrence Blackhall asked the town clerk if he could get an update from the county council on what was happening with their request to introduce double yellow lines by the turret opposite the old Ford Garage, as cars were still constantly parking there and causing problems.
