WATERLOGGED

Whitland 1st XV's home game against Bonymaen last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Tomorrow (Saturday), the Borderers have an away game at Merthyr.

HEAVY DEFEAT

Whitland 2nd XV played away at Llandovery in the Polypipe Civils League and lost heavily by 37 points to three, with Ross Michael getting their only points with a penalty. This weekend sees them play Waunarlwydd in the semi-final of the Polypipe Challenge Cup

Whitland Youth 27 pts. Cardigan Youth 3

Whitland dominated all aspects of this midweek fixture and ran out comfortable winners to maintain their 100 per cent record in Section D of the Scarlets Region, scoring four tries in the process. Fullback Jonny Morgan scored the opener, which centre James Strphenson converted, before Cardigan's outside-half, Aled Phillips, kicked a penalty to cut the lead to four points. Prop Brinley Toms scored Whitland's second try, which went unconverted, but just on half-time Stephenson kicked a penalty to extend the lead to 15 points to three. The second half was very much as the first, with Whitland in total command as they ran in a further two tries by Jonny Morgan, with Stephenson converting one to leave the full-time score 27 points to three in favour of the young Borderers.

Llangwm Youth 12 pts. Whitland Youth 32

Although playing in terrible conditions and with certain first choice players given a rest, Whitland still had enough firepower against a very spirited Llangwm side to keep their 100 per cent league record intact. Whitland were leading 17 points to five at the break after scoring three tries through fullback Aled Rees, winger Iestyn Scourfield and flanker Sam James, with centre James Stephenson converting one. Llangwm winger Henry Brand replied with an unconverted try for the home side. In the second half, Whitland again ran in three tries, all by their speedster, No 11 Kristian Issacs. All went unconverted, while right at the end, Llangwm centre Luke Brook intercepted to score a try under the posts, which outside-half Mathew Kiff converted to give a full-time score of 32 points to 12. Tomorrow (Saturday), Whitland Youth travel to play their last but one game away at Haverfordwest.
