Concerns have been raised by County Councillor Michael Williams over the garden shelter in Tenby's Paxtons Prom Gardens overlooking the harbour. Clr. Williams believes that over the years the shelter has become a site which has attracted anti-social behaviour from youths. "The latest incident involved students throwing full lager cans over the fence to the harbour car park," wrote Clr. Williams in a letter to Tenby Town Council. "If these cans had hit a child, the consequences could have been very serious. Residents of Crackwell Street and Bridge Street also have trouble from youngsters congregating in the shelter." Clr. Williams proposed that the shelter be demolished as it has no architectural value and its removal would greatly benefit the area. However, speaking in response to Clr. Williams's letter at Tuesday evening's meeting of the town council, Clr. John Griffiths, who carried out an inspection of the shelter, disagreed. "I don't think it's necessary to have to pull down the shelter; it's an attractive feature of the gardens and used by many members of the public throughout the day who like to sit in the shade," he said. "I don't support Clr. Williams's views; it's a shelter with a good structure and far from a tin shack, and I think it should remain in place," added Clr. Griffiths, whose proposal was seconded by Clr. Nicky Lloyd.
