The following is a copy of a letter to Mr. Tony Wales, chairman of the Hywel Dda Community Health Council.

Sir,

It is essential that the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Tenby Cottage Hospital is retained, otherwise patients would be involved in a very long and sometimes difficult journey to Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. It is ludicrous to even consider closing this and the MIU unit at South Pembrokeshire Hospital in Pembroke Dock.

Has the Health Board taken leave of its senses to want to close the Special Care Baby Unit at Witybush aa well as these MIUs? None of these seem to be in the patients' best interests. The babies would be put at additional risk without the immediate facilities, as would anyone without the MIU units in Tenby and Pembroke Dock.

I was fortunate to have my broken toe diagnosed at the MIU in Tenby and subsequently treated there. Any MIU needs expanding rather than closing.
