A major land and sea search was launched on Bank Holiday Monday after a 10-year-old boy was reported missing on Saundersfoot beach.
Rescue services were called into action by Saundersfoot's beach attendant after the boy, who was on holiday in the village with his family, had not been seen for about an hour.
He had last been noticed standing near the water's edge with an inflatable rubber ring and Tenby Coastguard units, Tenby's lifeboat, the RFA Sir Galahad, the inshore lifeboat, the search and rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor and the Dyfed-Powys Police helicopter were all involved in the search.
The boy was later found safe and well.
"The family had made arrangements that, if they got separated, they would meet back at the family car at the Regency car park," explained Coastguard sector officer, Mr. Dave Miller.
"When the boy realised he could not find his family, he headed there. Although the family had gone there to look for him, by this time he had decided to head back to the beach to look for them.
"Still unable to find them, he had gone back to the car, not realising that they had gone to alert the rescue services to the fact he was missing.
"When he again found no-one at the car he had the foresight to head back to the beach and inform the beach attendant."
