The Lewis, Lewis and Co. Solicitors sponsored Tenby U16s travelled to St. Clears in their last game of 2001.

The Seasiders started the brighter and could have been three goals up after 30 minutes. However, they could only convert one of their chances which proved a major factor in the game. The goal came via Tom Page who outstripped the home defence to score.

The home side began to claw their way back into the match and were gifted two goals before the break. The first from a poor back pass that never looked like reaching Lewis Hurlow in the Tenby goal, and the second an unnecessary penalty, which Hurlow almost saved.

Tenby lost the services of Darren Taylor towards the end of the first-half and were forced to play Matthew Birch at left back. This move, plus the fact Chris Iddon was playing at centre-half, normally a 'keeper, because of absentees and injuries, somewhat weakened the visiting defence.

St. Clears took full advantage of this and complete control of the match, scoring two goals at the beginning of the second-half.

Tenby seemed to have lost the plot, but as Jack Christopher pulled one back to give them a glimmer of hope, the Saints again scored to restore their three-goal advantage.

The adage of 'football's a funny game' rang true as the game turned completely on its head. The last quarter was all Tenby as they threw caution to the wind, and Page and Christopher both scored to set up a thrilling finale.

Christopher, Liam Robson and Page twice all had good chances to level and even take the lead, but all failed to find the back of the net.

In the dying minutes, the home side broke out of defence to score and clinch all three points in a very entertaining game.
