Begelly Kilgetty Community Association were delighted to welcome more than 50 residents to their annual Mince Pies and Music afternoon at the Community Centre on Friday, December 15. After everyone was settled with their glass of sherry, they were entertained by pupils from Pentlepoir CP School, who played and sang beautifully. The appreciative audience happily joined in singing the carols. As the children left each was given a small 'thank you' parcel. The compere, Neil Jackson, then introduced the chairman, Terry Ball, who presented the cups to the winners of this year's Christmas window competition. Llyniams Newsagents were adjudged the best illuminated premises, and Kilgetty Pharmacy, was the best decorated window. Rev. Coney said Grace before tea was served to ease all the throats dry from singing and chat! The final entertainment was 'A Christmas Story' performed by members of Kilgetty WI. A truly heartwarming tale, rounded off by a solo recitation of 'T'was the night before Christmas', which was warmly applauded. The draw for the raffle then took place, and a vote of thanks for the 'catering team' rounded off a splendid afternoon. Sincere thanks go to Mr. Rees, the music teacher, and the pupils of Pentlepoir School for giving the members such a musical treat, and a huge 'thank you' to all who helped by decorating the centre, baking mince pies, washing up afterwards, or simply wearing silly hats!
