In the latest results of the National Milk Records Competition for Pembrokeshire, herds located in the south of the county achieved many excellent results. Figuring prominently were the 210-strong Poyersfield herd of mostly home-bred pedigree Holsteins owned by Philip, Sheila and Roger Lewis, of the 350 acre Poyerston Farm, near Milton. Their August to Christmas calving herd, with an average yield of over 9,000 kgs, earned the most points overall on production and inspection in the large herds category. Topping the small herds was Meurig Harries, of Eithinmaen, Wolfscastle, who now carries on the herd established by his parents, Brynmor and Elvira Harries - now retired.
