A museum to house Wales' largest collection of military artefacts has been given the go-ahead by planners at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
The authority's development management committee on Wednesday, October 17, approved an application to convert parts of Chapel Bay Fort into a museum.
The fort is a Scheduled Ancient Monument on the cliffs of the Angle peninsula and was designed to protect the Milford Haven waterway. It will now be restored to how it would have looked from 1900 to 1918 as a visitor attraction and educational resource.
Chapel Bay Fort and Museum trustees plan to open a visitor centre documenting the restoration and charting the development of the fortification of the Haven.
It is believed the museum will be home to one of the most comprehensive collections of military artefacts in the UK.
Development management officer Catherine Milner said: "The fort itself is of interest and importance and the fact that it will now be open for members of the public to see is very welcome."
