Milford Waterfront has confirmed it is the proud sponsor of the 2016 Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards.

The glittering ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 10, at the Withybush Showground Pavilion where the winners of 15 categories will be announced, including Best Eating Out Experience and Finest Pembrokeshire Breakfast.

The Milford Waterfront Development is an exciting regeneration project led by the Port of Milford Haven. Previously referred to as the Milford Dock Master Plan, it aims to add to the existing mix of leisure, retail and dining businesses at Milford Marina and Docks, but also celebrate the arts, culture and heritage of the area with the aim of boosting the local economy.

Following a resolution to grant consent for the Milford Waterfront Development in 2015, the Port of Milford Haven enlisted the skills of experienced property developer Neil Jenkins, who has been successful in similar projects in London and Jersey, to lead the project.

Neil has sectioned the site into phases for development and has held discussions with various potential partners who are interested in locating to the area. The first few phases include proposals for hotel accommodation, retail, food and beverage and residential properties, and will be submitted to the local authority in the coming months.

Destination director Neil Jenkins commented: “This is an exciting time for the team as we move forward with our plans for the Milford Waterfront Development. A lot of work has already started in making the town a destination that visitors will travel far and wide to, for example the installation of new lock gates at the marina, the construction of new buildings for the fishing industry and the launch of heritage boat tours on board the vessel ‘Discovery’. We’re delighted to be able to sponsor the Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards and would encourage everyone involved in the industry to enter one of the categories.”

Jane Rees-Baynes, chair of Pembrokeshire Tourism, added: “I am absolutely delighted to have Milford Waterfront as our main event sponsor for this year’s Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards. With their increasing focus on tourism we believe it is a fantastic partnership which will help us to continue to recognise and reward excellence in our industry in Pembrokeshire.”

Entries are being accepted until Friday, September 2, for more information visit www.pembrokeshiretourismawards.net
