Pembrokeshire County Council has a new head of cultural services.

Michael Cavanagh is due to start work in Haverfordwest in September.

He is currently a senior manager within the economy and culture division of Lincolnshire County Council.

"I'm very excited to be joining the council and looking forward to meeting the challenges of delivering excellent services and making a real difference to people's lives," he said.

Mike, who was brought up in Bolton, Lancashire, started his career with Kettering Borough Council as an assistant heritage manager before taking up more senior cultural service positions with Kettering and Lincolnshire County Council.

He studied for an archaeology degree at Liverpool University and gained a masters degree in museum studies at Leicester. He also has a postgraduate certificate in Management from Lincoln University and a postgraduate diploma in information and library studies from Aberystwyth University.

He currently lives in Lincolnshire, but will be moving to Pembrokeshire with his wife Dawn, whose family come from Milford Haven, and son Jack.

Mike takes over from Neil Bennett, who retired earlier this year.
