Midsummer and Fish Week will soon be upon us, and on the longest day this year, Span Arts will have a day of fishy fun and music in the beautiful surroundings of Narberth Castle, featuring children's activities, singers, dancers and a fish barbecue. The Narberth Food Festival team will be grilling freshly caught mackerel and children will be able to take part in making a giant fish with Sand Palace Arts. Live music will start at 3 pm with The One Voice singers led by ex-Zion Train singer Molara. This lively choir has recently been competing in the BBC Choir of the Year competition and have won in their class against choirs from all around Wales. Nigel Mazlyn Jones is a singer and guitarist who ploughs an independent musical route. His combination of natural acoustic guitar sounds and electric textures, along with his playing of the Indian santor give him a unique sound. Without tapes or synthesizers, he combines brilliant guitar playing with powerful and evocative visuals that emphasise the themes of his music. Much of his writing is influenced by the inspiration of the land, sea and skies of Cornwall where he lives. Young Narberth band Brainglue will make their castle debut and others appearing on the day will be Baubo Belly Dancers and Pyro Pixies with a show involving exotic Arabic dancing fire juggling. A great family picnic is promised for all who want to celebrate Midsummer at the castle ruins. Tickets are £5 adults and £3 for children available from Span Arts on (01834) 869323 and at the gate on the day.
