Tenby Rabbits held their annual tour recently, this year under the leadership of captain Mark Edwards and vice-captain Mick Gillett. Their destination was St. Mary's at Pencoed, near Bridgend.

The trip got underway with the customary preparations on board the early morning coach, with minds firmly focused on the three days of golf ahead, but firstly on the liquid refreshment kindly provided by captain Mark.

Not for long, though, as we were soon to arrive and enjoy our bacon rolls and for the serious there was coffee, the queue for the bar being longer. For some, the golf seemed to get in the way of the drinking, some were even serious about the golf, while some were caught in the middle, but whatever you wanted on this tour, you got it.

The course was in great condition, the beer was lovely, the food was excellent; you couldn't even fault the accommodation, which was first class.

However, one of the party by the name of Steve Watkins thought the lounge area of the bar looked more comfortable than his bed, so spent a good couple of hours stretched out on the Saturday night sleeping here. It might have been down to his exhausting rounds on Friday and Saturday - either that or the golf!

One who did find the rooms to his liking was Maurice Lewis's guest for the weekend, Ted. He enjoyed it so much, he got tucked into the mini in the room and loved it. In fact, Ted didn't get on the return coach; he enjoyed it so much, he decided to stay permanently and just hang out!

Some great evenings were enjoyed after our excellent evening meals, with Mackie Harts as fines master in great form, assisted by his chief creep Juan Cruz. Each year we get stung for charity; it's all good fun though. This year, the chosen charity was Ty Hafan children's hospital.

You can get fined for not being fined, you can be fined for not wearing a tie, or basically for anything they want - and don't try and drop someone else in it, because that gets you a fine too!

Ask Steve Maytum; he was fined for asking for a sweet from the menu that wasn't available, the only snag being Jerry Whitehouse had told him it was on the menu. You see, Steve didn't have his glasses on him and asked Jerry to read the menu.

Another example, with the fine this time being well and truly justified, was our captain Mark Edwards and his vice Mick Gillett singing the theme tune from the Meerkat advert - it was shocking!

A good laugh Macky and Juan, well done, and an excellent figure of around £190 raised for Ty Hafan.

And so on to the golf. Firstly, the poisoned chalice, the one that no one wants, the dreaded Crooked Putter. Despite previous years of trying to avoid it, Mike Munro was rumoured to have come on this year's trip to prove that he could avoid being awarded the most under-achieving golfer over the first two days. And this year he succeeded - mind you, it was thanks to Steve Watkins being on tour and the fact that he was Brahms and Liszt most of the time. So this was to be Steve's award this year.

With three days of golf being played, the first day is a stableford competition for the much sought-after Silver Rabbit. The winner of this also has his handicap cut in half for the next day's golf - good job then that this year it went to one of our 28 handicappers. Well done here to Macky Harts for first spot.

Day two is again a stableford round, this time for the Oman Cup. Again there was some excellent golf and this time it was the turn of our vice-captain, Mick Gillett, to pick up the silverware, which was good for him after just missing out on the first day

In the process, he also earned himself the Peter Watkins Award for the best golfer over the first two days. Well done you bandito.

On to day three and the only pairs competition of the weekend, with partners being drawn out of the hat at Saturday night's dinner, and some tasty pairs there were too.

But this was to be the day of our captain Mark Edwards and his pal Dafydd, who upstaged the rest to secure the coveted Peter Nobes Salvers. Well done you two.

It was also a day which saw no fewer than four pairs finish at the top with the same number of points and you had to feel sorry (no don't laugh) for Mick Gillett and Simon Evans, who just missed out. They had enough points to come, well joint second and third, but not on the right holes - hard lines, as the monkey said when he fell off the train.

Also to be played for on the Sunday were the longest drive and nearest the pin competitions, the latter being awarded to Dafydd Evans - some 14 inches apparently, or was he dreaming! No surprise for the longest drive, with the biggest man on tour, Steve Maytum, hitting the biggest drive - some 380 yards apparently. This man also had the only two on the Saturday, taking all the money - nice one pal.

Mention must also go to the following, for being clever and picking up more than one award over the three days -Mackie Harts, Dafydd Evans, Neil Dickinson, Mark Edwards and obviously the man of the weekend, Mick the Razor. If I have missed anyone out, sorry, but it must be said what a cracking weekend we had and thanks must go to our captain, Mark Edwards, and his vice, Mick Gillett.

Results over the three days were as follows:

Silver Rabbit: 1. Macky Harts; 2. Mick Gillett; 3. Neil Dickinson

Oman Cup: 1. Mick Gillett; 2. Neil Dickinson; 3. Mark Edwards.

Peter Nobes Salvers: 1. Dafydd Evans and Mark Edwards; 2. Maurice Lewis and Macky Harts; 3. Phil Carpenter and Neil Dickinson.

Peter Watkins Award for best golfer - Mick Gillett; Crooked Putter - Steve Watkins; longest drive - Steve Maytum; nearest the pin - Dafydd Evans.
