After setting up the Pembrokeshire branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Mia Appeal, Mia's parents, Chris and Merrilee Phillips, of Templeton, along with their daughter, wish to thank family and friends for supporting the appeal and helping to raise over £5,000 this year alone. Twenty-two-month-old Mia is a cystic fibrosis patient, and with help from the money raised for the appeal, scientists believe they will be able to add a healthy gene to her lungs, which will stop the lung damage that takes the lives of 90 per cent of children and young adults who suffer with cystic fibrosis. Mia's grandmother, Mrs. Marjorie Phillips, has also played a huge part in fund-raising for the appeal, by losing 32 lbs as part of a sponsored slim. Marjorie managed to raise a magnificent £260 towards Mia's appeal as a result of her slimming efforts.
