THE Mezin String Quartet will be giving a concert at St. Johns Church, Tenby, next Friday, June 23.
The quartet, which consists of Rebecca Whitehurst and Joanne Underwood on violin, Jim Walker on viola and Kyle Patterson on cello, have been busy rehearsing a complete new programme after their series of highly successful concerts last autumn. These included a sell-out concert for Tenby Arts Festival when they performed a premiere of a new work which was written for them by the highly acclaimed Welsh composer, Mervyn Burtch.
In keeping with their philosophy of performing more well known works alongside lesser heard 20th century music, next week's concert will include music by Haydn and Mendelssohn, as well as the deeply moving 8th Quartet by Shostakovich.
Tickets, which are priced at £5, to include light refreshments, will be available on the door. Under 18s are free. The concert starts at 8 pm, and all are very welcome.
