Plans are coming together in Pembroke Dock for a new way of celebrating Easter in the town and everyone’s invited.
The forthcoming ‘Midnight Mass of the Resurrection’ which takes place tomorrow (Saturday) is for anyone who loves Midnight Mass at Christmas, but wouldn’t normally attend a church service at Easter.
The Vicar, Rev. Nicky Skipworth, describes the service: “It will begin (before the clocks go forward) at 11.30 pm with deep darkness and silence in St. John’s Church, Bush Street, and will gradually include amazing music, candle light and powerful words as we celebrate the rising of Jesus very early on the third day after his crucifixion.
“We will also have an adult baptism taking place during the service and that’s great.
“Many churches start their celebrations earlier on the Saturday evening or the Sunday morning, but we’re trying something different this year, something that reflects how, in the West, the new day begins at midnight.
“We invite the community, churchgoer and non-churchgoer alike, to join us for what might be a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
“Easter Sunday daytime services will still take place in St. Patrick’s, St. Teilo’s and St. John’s; all are welcome without exception,” added Rev. Skipworth
Full details of all services throughout Holy Week and the Easter weekend are available on Facebook at ‘The United Parish of Pembroke Dock’ or by calling the Parish Office on 01646 680024.
