The Mermaid on the Strand Restaurant in Saundersfoot was filled to capacity last Tuesday when 150 people supported a Fish and Chip Supper there.

Diners were rewarded with a delicious meal while they helped the newly-named Saundersfoot, Tenby and District committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief raise a splendid £734 which will be used to help cancer patients and their families.

The supper is a popular annual event. The Mermaid's friendly young staff rose to the occasion and demonstrated great efficiency as they served the full house.

Guests were entertained with Celtic Music by popular local Ceilidh musicians, Steffan and Gem.

Committee chairman, Cynthia Scourfield Lewis, thanked everyone for their support, especially Lindsey and Andrew Evans, owners of The Mermaid, whose invitation to hold the event, and generosity and hard work, made the occasion not only possible, but a resounding success.
