As we are now in the throes of an election, I thought it would be interesting to display this old photograph of the Pembroke Borough Council and chief officers, 1955-56. In those days this council represented both Pembroke and Pembroke Dock and had real powers. Pictured here are: Centre: Mayor, Ald George Burton and town clerk Clr. P. Lowless. To the left of the Mayor (standing from left): Clr. E. Jenkins, Clr. W. Evans, Mr. C. Sandell (sanitary inspector), Clr. C. Griffiths, Mr. C. Matthews (borough treasurer), Clr. F. Owen, Clr. J. Rees. Seated: Clr. I. Hammond, Clr. E. Kemp, Clr. J. R. Williams, Ald. C. Green, Ald. W. Munro. To the right of the Mayor (standing from left): Clr. R. Wood, Clr. A. Colley, Clr. E. Morgan, Clr. J. Goodman, Mr. W. Maddocks (deputy borough surveyor), Clr. G. Davies, Mr. G. Macpherson (rating officer). Seated: Ald. W. Gwilliam, Clr. G. Wheeler, Ald. A. Hughes, Clr. G. Jenkins, Clr. R. Hodges.
