A special service in memory of Luke Rogers, founder and manager of Summerhill Farm Shop, has helped raise a large sum of money for the charity CRY.

The service for Luke, of 5 Sentence Gardens, Templeton, was held on December 17, at St. Johns Church, with Rev. Roger Jones officiating.

Readings were given by brother-in-law Andrew Harts and family member Lisa Rogers, who is also a TV and radio presenter.

Lisa also spoke about the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), which the family was keen to raise awareness about and support through any donations that were made following the service.

Every week at least eight apparently 'fit and healthy' young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions in the UK.

Donations were gratefully received for the charity to the sum of £1,068.18.

"We hope to raise more money soon through fund-raising so that we can look to bring a cardiac screening service down to the area," said local CRY representative, Mrs. Maureen Ward.

"It's services like the one for Luke that help bring awareness to the subject matter and screenings can help detect those with signs and symptoms early on," she added.
