Friday, July 1, saw the climax of this year's 'Activate' Welsh Primary Schools Hockey Competition. Twenty-four teams attended the finals day at Newtown out of the 220 teams that had entered. Two local primary schools, Templeton and Narberth, were amongst these 24 teams. Despite the early start and long journey, all the children played well. Narberth were in Pool A, along with five other teams. They drew two games and lost three, finishing in sixth place. Templeton were in Pool C, along with five other teams. They drew four games and lost one, finishing in fourth place. After the pool stages were completed, every child was presented with a medal for attending the finals. The final was contested between two Cardiff teams, Severn Primary School and Ysgol Ywern, Severn Primary School being the eventual winners, 2-0 on penalty strokes. Thanks go to all the parents who travelled to Newtown and supported the teams throughout a most memorable day.
