A Welsh woman who has written an autobiographical book of ‘memories’ has featured a piece on Tenby in her story.

Born and brought up in Ebbw Vale during the era of 1939 to 1955, author Nadine Baldock, who has just released ‘Me and My Valley’, says that times were very different in those days.

“So much happened in those few short years, but interesting things, like the war, and the coronation - these were things I lived through like many others, but I have written my memories into a book called ‘Me and My Valley’ and I suppose it’s what they call autobiographical,” explained Nadine.

“This is not a history book, but life through my eyes at that time. I decided to self publish as I wasn’t sure if it would be of interest to anyone other than my family, so I had 100 printed and advertised it on Facebook.

“It took off, and I sold 90 in four weeks, and I’m just about to reorder more books,” explained Nadine.

“I don’t sadly now live in Wales, but my heart will always be there, and I visit as often as possible.

“My late husband and I spent many years in Tenby and thought of it as our second home without actually living there. I only finished my book while my husband was seriously ill two years ago and did pass away.

“As I had almost finished my book, I felt there was something missing, and although Tenby isn’t the Valleys, it most certainly is Welsh, so I wrote a long last chapter all about Tenby and our love for it,” she continued.

“Each year it’s getting more difficult for me to travel, but I do try to get there as often as I can, but from where I live, it’s a long drive, but so worthwhile.

“I have been truly amazed at what has happened to my book as every single person has loved it, and I have not had one negative comment, but so many have mentioned how lovely the story about Tenby is, making the final part of my story a bit different,” added Nadine, who says the book is available through her in paperback or eBook form.
