IF you feel like a new challenge for the New Year, why not audition for Saundersfoot Footlights summer show 'Me and My Girl'.

The show is set in the late 1930s where the Harefords, a family of haughty aristocrats, are seeking the legitimate heir to the title of Earl of Hareford. Bill Snibson, a Cockney from Lambeth is found and named as the long-lost 'Earl of Hareford'.

Bill's rough Cockney ways do not satisfy the Will of the last Earl and in order to gain his inheritance Bill must learn gentlemanly manners.

The Duchess thinks that she can make Bill 'fit and proper', but not his Cockney girlfriend, Sally Smith.

As with all musicals, you can be sure of some twists and turns along the way!

The auditions are being held in the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, on Sunday, January 9, at 5 pm. Auditions are open to all age 14 and over (by the week of the show), and those wishing to audition will be asked to sing a song of their choice. Anyone who also wishes to audition for a speaking part will also be asked to read something from the script.

If you'd like to be involved, but do not wish to audition for a part, please do come along on Sunday and introduce yourself. Footlights are always looking for people to help with many of the back stage jobs that go to make the show the success it is.

So why not give it a go, you may already know some of the well-known songs from the musical such as The Lambeth Walk, Learning on the Lamppost and The Sun Has Got His Hat On!

Rehearsals take place on a Wednesday and Sunday and the show will run Monday, May 30, to Saturday, June 4, with all performances starting at 7.30 pm.
