The Mayor of Tenby is appealing for help from the residents of south-east Pembrokeshire in convincing health chiefs that the area's new Cottage Hospital must include beds.
At this week's meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas, a longstanding member of the Campaign for Action on Tenby Cottage Hospital, explained that she had been given the opportunity to address members of the Pembrokeshire Local Health Board before their next meeting later this month, when they are expected to decide on the new hospital facilities.
"This will be the last chance we get to convince the board that we need beds in our hospital," said Clr. Mrs. Thomas, who has attended all the board meetings with chairman of the Hospital League of Friends.
"This is a plea for help," she continued at Tuesday meeting.
"I would like people to help me convince them that we need beds and would like to have their reasons so I can include them in my speech."
Members of the public are asked to put their reasons in writing and drop them in to the council office at the De Valence Pavilion and mark them hospital.
