Tenby’s Mayor was delighted to attend Tenby Sea Cadets' June Divisions recently, celebrating the achievements, qualifications and service of the unit's cadets and volunteers, and supporting their business initiative with a charity-funded slush machine.

During the evening, Mayor, Cllr Dai Morgan presented PO (SCC) Nick Jowett with his 3rd Good Conduct Stripe in recognition of his service to both the Sea Cadet Corps and the Royal Navy.

He also made a personal presentation to LC Will in recognition of his term as Mayor's Cadet.

The Mayor was particularly pleased to support the cadets' initiative by providing a slush machine through his Mayor's Charity Fund, following a successful business proposal prepared and presented by the cadets themselves.

Tenby Sea Cadets are one of the Mayor's chosen charities for his year of office, and Tenby Town Council congratulate all the cadets, volunteers and trustees on another successful Divisions evening.

Cllr Morgan remarked: "It was a pleasure to spend the evening with Tenby Sea Cadets and to see the fantastic work they do for young people in our community. The confidence, commitment and enthusiasm shown by the cadets was inspiring. I am proud to have Tenby Sea Cadets as one of my chosen charities during my year as Mayor and look forward to supporting them throughout the year ahead.

“Thank you to everyone involved for the warm welcome, and congratulations to all those recognised for their achievements and service."

Tenby Sea Cadets shared: “Monday night saw the Unit take part in Divisions a monthly opportunity to inspect the Cadets and award qualifications and recognise achievements.

“Due to the temperature Cadets were in half blues or T shirt order, not something we see often and we were pleased to welcome the UMT Chair onboard in his role as Town Mayor.

“Following the award of qualifications to Cadets Cllr Morgan presented the 3rd Good Conduct Stripe for PO (SCC) Nick Jowett in recognition of his service both in the Corps and in the Royal Navy.

“Finally The Mayor made a personal presentation to LC Will in recognition of his term as Mayor's Cadet having handed the baton to LC Jack.”

Each month the Cadets have a group Forum in which they give their views on the unit and things they would like to see and do. These views and ideas are then presented to the Unit Management team by the Cadet Representative LC Jack.

Recently the Cadets asked if a slush machine could be installed for Stand Easy, and they were subsequently asked to present a business plan for the machine which they duly did.

Tenby’s Mayor duly presented a machine purchased through his charity fund which was gratefully accepted on behalf of the cadets by NEC Edward.
