Denied a league match at Maesteg the previous Saturday because of a waterlogged pitch, Narberth were unable to play for the second Saturday running when their home match against Tonmawr was called off by the match referee.
It was not for a mundane reason such as heavy rain or a waterlogged pitch, but the rather more bizarre reason of a calf injury to the referee Ken Bowen who damaged a tendon so badly during his pre-match warm-up that he was unable to run.
Tonmawr are unbeaten so far this season having won all four games played to date so a large crowd was in attendance to watch the clash between third placed Narberth and second place Tonmawr who are defending the title they won last season.
A large group of sponsors was also present and the postponement was a frustrating and disappointing time for all concerned, especially the players and coaches of both teams.
Obviously a bit down after the announcement Narberth's director of rugby Jonathan Dodd said: "We are disappointed enormously as it is the second week on the trot that we have been ready to play at 2 pm and the referee has had to call off the game.
"We know that we cannot do anything about it, but we will have to go to Corus next Saturday at a time when the players and coaches are disappointed about the lack of game time.
"We have had a fairly good start to the season apart from the disappointing result away to Carmarthen Quins, but we bounced back the following week with a good win at home against Cwmllynfell.
"We have three league fixtures and then a break because of the Autumn International matches at the Millennium Stadium.
"During that break, six of the Narberth players will be part of the squad for the Welsh amateur team who are travelling to Germany for an away international fixture."
The six players are centre Steve Martin, winger Tom Bonnell, locks Alex Jenkins and Chris James, hooker Dan Smith and scrum-half Andrew Davies.
"We will also have a friendly fixture away to UWIC on the morning of Saturday, November 22, before Wales play New Zealand at the Millennium Stadium and the following Friday, November 28, we are hoping to play our re-arranged league fixture against Maesteg.
"The friendly at UWIC and the re-arranged league fixture, plus the fact that six of our boys will be playing in Germany should avoid too many players getting rusty during the period of the autumn International matches in Cardiff."
It is anticipated that the re-arranged fixture with Tonmawr will be played on Saturday, May 2, subject to approval by the Welsh Rugby Union.
Narberth will be hoping that it is a case of three times lucky tomorrow (Saturday, October 18) when the team heads up the M4 for an away fixture against Corus in Division One West.
