A proposal to site a Tetra mast on land at Gumfreston Farm, Gumfreston, took a dramatic turn this week. As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), the Observer was informed that the owners of the land where the temporary mast was being proposed had withdrawn their consent for the scheme. In a statement issued to us, solictors acting for the trustees to the Sir David Meyrick Trust Estate said the trustees were approached last August by Airwwave MMO2 concerning a proposal to site a temporary mast at Gumfreston Farm. "Airwave MMO2 submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council a planning application seeking consent for this development as part of the airwave service to provide coverage in the Tenby area for the new National Private Digital Radio Communications Services for the police, ambulance and fire brigade services," the statement said. "This planning application has generated considerable discussion locally. In response to representations received from the local community, the Trustees have advised Airwave MMO2 that given the strength of local feeling on this issue they are not prepared to proceed with the siting of this mast on estate land."
