A controversial decision on whether a Tetra mast should be sited near a holiday home for severely disabled children is to be made next week. Pembrokeshire County Council planners will consider whether to allow the siting of a Tetra mast 50 metres away from The Wheelabout in Penally when they meet on Tuesday. The Harriet Davis Trust Holiday Home for severely disabled children and their whole family was funded entirely through charitable donations which took years to raise. The design and extremely specialised equipment allow a whole family to share a precious holiday together and sadly is the only seaside holiday property in the whole of Wales to provide for not just the extremely disabled child, but the rest of the family as well. Owners, John and Kit Davis, fear financial meltdown of the entire Trust should Tetra be added to the three other mobile phone masts on their doorstep. All donations would need to be repaid should the property not get enough families to stay. "A wealth of researched planning, legal and Disability Rights information has been given to Pembrokeshire County Council to back refusal of this application and the Trust and local residents eagerly await the outcome," said Penally Against Tetra Action Group member, Mrs. Ann Dassen. "It is now a year since pre-planning applications were given a 100 per cent rejection," she explained. "Since that time we have been bombarded with two planning applications, a failed attempt at an appeal and reams of mis-information. The stress on the trustees and local residents has been extreme," she added. FOOTNOTE: The planning committee meeting is at 10 am at County Hall, Haverfordwest, next Tuesday and members of the public may attend. Anyone wishing to travel by coach, is asked to please sign the list at Penally Post Office as soon as possible or telephone Ann Dassen on 844957. "Support, as always, would be greatly appreciated," said Mrs. Dassen.
