The £85,000 project devised by the Friends and Tenby Town Council combines a range of play equipment for seven to 12-year-olds, with a wheeled play facility for skateboarders, inline skaters and micro scooter and BMX users.
Although the unseasonal weather has hampered the work, the park is on course to be completed this week, ready for its official opening this Sunday (July 22) by the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Trevor Hallett.
The official opening will take the form of a family fun day, from 2 to 5 pm, with children's entertainment, refreshments and displays of BMX, scooter and skateboarding skills.
The project has been part-funded by grants from Tenby Town Council, Pembrokeshire County Council and Dyfed-Powys Police, donations from local organisations, individuals and shops and fundraising initiatives by the Friends.
Friends treasurer Mrs. Christine Brown was delighted by the generosity of the local Masons.
"Although the park is nearing completion and will be open to use, the Friends still have some £15,000 to find," she explained.
"Tenby Town Council agreed to loan us the shortfall to enable the park to be open in time for the summer season and we'd like to thank the Tenby Masonic Lodge for their very generous cheque towards the project," she added.
