The following matters were among those considered at the meeting of the Martletwy Community Council held in Lawrenny on October 6.
Planning
The council had no objections to planning applications for an extension to Park View, Lawrenny, and to an amendment to a 2005 planning consent for the conversion of outbuildings to residential units at The Stanley Arms, Landshipping.
While the council had no objection to the erection of a double garage at Bradwell, Martletwy, members had reservations about the proposed loft/storage space above it, without which its roofline might be lower.
At their request, it was agreed that the consultants undertaking the Environmental Assessment of the proposed relocation of the Lawrenny Farms Dairy Unit be invited to attend the next meeting to outline the plans.
Highways Matters
It was resolved to ask the highway authority to rectify a problem with the 30mph speed limit signs on the Lawrenny Quay road on the edge of the village, which had apparently been reversed by person or persons unknown.
The council was informed of the proposed dates for the temporary closure of Broad Lane, Lawrenny, between the Cricket Club access and Deals Cross for five days commencing Monday November 10, for carriageway resurfacing works.
The highway authority stated that traffic to and from the village would be required to use the Garron Pill road during this period, although the closure would be lifted in the evenings when high tides may affect Garron Pill. Pedestrian and vehicular access to properties will be maintained.
Lawrenny
Payphone box
County Councillor Lewis was co-ordinating discussions between BT, the landowner, and the local community councillor on the possibility of keeping the traditional telephone callbox in Lawrenny under BT's 'Adopt A Kiosk' scheme for local authorities. The deadline for applications was November 1.
Next Meeting
