The following matters were considered at the meeting of the Martletwy Community Council held in Lawrenny on July 7: Planning: The council had no objection to a planning application for decking around a caravan at 53 Lawrenny Caravan Park. The council had been consulted by the National Park Authority on a request for a 'scoping opinion' on the Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed relocation of Lawrenny Home Farm. It concluded that the coverage of the assessment proposed by the developer appeared adequate. It was noted that a public presentation of alternative possible schemes would be held in Lawrenny Village Hall on July 25. Highways matters: It was resolved to investigate with the Highway Authority the night-time use of Cott Lane, Martletwy, by security vehicles connected with the Bluestone development. Lawrenny Post Office: The council was unanimous in its support of the Village Shop Association's campaign to persuade Post Office Ltd. to reconsider its plans to replace the 'hosted' service at Lawrenny with a twice-weekly mobile van. Such a service would undoubtedly be inferior to that currently provided in the Village Shop. The community council considered that this proposition took no account of the achievements of the association and its supporters in establishing a sustainable community shop to act as 'host' to the Post Office; achievements reflected in the Calor Village of the Year award 2007/8. The current vitality and development potential of Lawrenny supported the association's ambition to continue to allow the existing arrangements to develop. Next meeting: This will be held on Monday, August 4, at 7.30 pm, in Lawrenny Village Hall.
