The following matters were considered at the July meeting of Martletwy Community Council held in Lawrenny: Planning: An application for extensions to 1 Rushmore, Martletwy, together with amended plans, was supported. It was agreed that the council would continue to press the planning authorities for an amendment to the recently-published Joint Unitary Development Plan to include Lawrenny in the 'Sustainable Community' which includes Martletwy, Landshipping and Newton, as agreed during the JUDP consultation process. Highways matters: It was resolved to press the county council for clearer signage at the Burnetts Hill Chapel junction, in order to indicate priorities more clearly. County Councillor Robert Lewis indicated anticipated progress with the ongoing problem of drainage on Burnetts Hill itself. Attention was to be drawn to apparent subsidence of the road surface at New Britain, near Cresswell Quay. It was agreed that highways matters would in future be an item on every agenda of the community council. Japanese Knotweed: The county council was to be reminded of its previous commitments to the eradication of Japanese Knotweed from its landholdings, in which the council had contributed considerable survey information. The clerk was to write to ensure that remedial work is undertaken in known problem areas during this growing season. Rights of Way Improvement Plan: Members will consider the draft plan individually and reach conclusions at their September meeting. The next meeting will be on Monday at 7.30 pm in Lawrenny Village Hall.
