Tenby Harbour was the scene of a very different 'spectacular' on Saturday, July 31.

Friends and holidaymakers, accompanied by handbells, celebrated the wedding of Edward Dawes and Michelle Knight in St. Julian's Fishermen's Chapel.

Edward is the son of Roger and Helen Dawes, of Sutton Coldfield, and grandson of the late Bill and Doris English, of Tenby.

Greeted by the St. Mary's handbell ringers, the bride arrived with her mother, Mrs. Pat Knight, of Lythan St. Anne's. She wore a 'haute courture' ivory beaded gown finished with vintage ivory lace.

In attendance were matron of honour Mrs. Charlotte Edwards (bride's sister) and Miss Caroline Evans (friend of the bride), who wore turquoise satin gowns. Flower girls were Gabriella and Natasha Edwards (bride's nieces).

Best man was Dr. Stephen King (groom's brother-in-law) and the usher was Mr. Stephen Nesbit (groom's friend).

The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Andrew Davies, Rector of St. Mary's, Tenby, with Dr. John Harrison, choirmaster of St. Mary's, at the organ.

Readings were given by Dr. Harriett King (groom's sister) and Mr. Charles Edwards (bride's brother-in-law).

To rapturous applause from holidaymakers and accompanied by the handbells, the bride and groom left for their reception in a splendidly decorated trap driven by two white Pembrokeshire ponies.

They were applauded around town on their way to the reception at the Fourcroft Hotel.

Edward and Michelle are both broadcast journalists at the BBC Birmingham. They have a home in Shire Oak, Staffordshire.

They will be spending their honeymoon in Maderia.
