Family and friends from Tenby and district, the south-east, Berlin and Stockholm travelled to Paris to attend the marriage of Martin Thomas, only son of Royce and Gwer Thomas, of Lady Park, Tenby, and Marlene Fernandes, eldest daughter of Jaoa and Jinnie Fernandes, of Paray-Vielle-Poste, Paris.

The civil ceremony at the Hotel de Ville, Paray-Vielle-Poste, was followed by a service at the church of Notre Dame de la Voie, Athis Mons. The service included readings in English by David England, groom's cousin by marriage, and prayers in English and Welsh by John Harry, close family friend. Witnesses were Helen Thomas, groom's sister, and Simon Rhys-Phillips, groom's friend, Nuno and Manuela Fernandes, bride's brother and sister.

The bride wore a burgundy and ivory striped strapless bodice over a full-length ivory skirt with a burgundy and ivory striped train. She carried a bouquet of burgundy and white roses. The ring bearer was the bride's two-year-old niece, Manon Fernandes, who wore an ivory dress trimmed with red.

The evening reception, a celebration of the marriage, was held at Ferme de la Contin, Paray-Vieille-Poste.

The honeymoon was spent touring in California. Martin and Marlene have made their home in Savigny sur Orge, Paris.
