St. Issell's Church, Saundersfoot, was the setting for the wedding on Saturday of Robert Duke and Julie Owen. The groom is the son of Mr. George Duke, of Kilgetty, while the bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jenny Hunkin, of Penally. Escorted to the church by her uncle, Mr. Len Meldon, of Penally, they arrived in a white Daimler limousine, chauffeured by Bert Lavis. At the church, the role was taken over by the bride's two sons, Nicholas and Timothy, who gave their mother away. The bride wore a stunning ivory satin off-the- shoulder gown which was encrusted with beaded lace and complemented with a cathedral-length detachable train. She also wore a two-tier veil with sequins which was held in place with a gold tiara. Chief bridesmaid was her daughter, Amelia, who wore a beautiful two-piece dupion dress, with a brocade design bodice and A-line skirt. She also wore an ivory and wine beaded tiara. Also in attendance were bridesmaids, the bride's nieces, Sara and Sabrina, who wore ivory A-line duchess satin dresses and ivory tiaras. Their bouquets were ivory and red calla lilies, berries and steel grass, tied with Naffia leaves. Best man was the groom's brother, Stephen Duke, who travelled from Windsor, while the bride's two sons and nephew, Hayden, acted as ushers. The service was conducted by Canon Michael Butler. A reception was held at the RAOB Club, Kilgetty, which was decorated using the wine and ivory theme colours. A magnificent buffet was held in the evening. Guests also saw the couple cut a three-tier cake decorated with wine and ivory sugar-crafted flowers, which was made by the bride's aunt, Liz Rees. The couple will spend their honeymoon in Corfu and will remain at their present home in Kilgetty.
