A CYCLIST from Northampton is making the trip down to the county this weekend to take part in a charity ride to help raise money for Withybush Hospital.

Marie Hayler will be participating in the Tour of Pembrokeshire tomorrow (Saturday), cycling 50 miles to raise funds and awareness for Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Care Unit.

"She's doing it as a way of saying thank you to the staff at Withybush in Haverfordwest for the care they have given my father-in-law Cyril who has been suffering from cancer," explained Marie's mother, Susan Roberts, of Stepaside.

"Marie's employers BT have agreed to match fund the money she raises for the cause. She's also managed to lose nine stone through the training that she has done since taking up cycling, so she's very much looking forward to the challenge now," added Susan.
