Saundersfoot's Christian Done and Dave Poole (pictured) certainly had plenty to smile about after successfully completing their first ever marathon recently.

The pair put their best feet forward and, as Christian said, 'waddled their limbs' around the gruelling 26.2-mile Robin Hood Run in Nottingham to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, a charity caring for children and young people with cancer.

And both their own figures and their sponsorship totals are looking healthy as a result!

They hope to raise £500 for the good cause and together have lost almost four-stone between them in the last six months!

"Out time was four hours 46 minutes which could have been worse for the first effort," said Christian, a popular member of staff at Powells Cottage Holidays.

"We ran around all the way together, so it was a great team effort. The second half was in baking heat as well, which didn't make it any easier."

Although Dave, who works for Carmarthenshire County Council, and Christian were walking like a couple of cowboys the day after, it hasn't put their off their new-found running careers, which was sparked as a result of a New Year's resolution from Dave!

They are now planning a run next spring, so unfortunately their family and friends will still keep having to hear them talk about their training which is starting this week for their next challenge!

Christian and Dave are still collecting sponsorship and anyone who would like to make a donation to their chosen charity, CLIC Sargent, can donate on http://www.justgiving.com/davechris">www.justgiving.com/davechris
