FOUR athletes are lacing-up their trainers in readiness for the forthcoming London Marathon.
Well-known running enthusiast and bowler, Pat Currie, will be joined by his son-in-law, Dai Spencer, and his brother, Brian, together with Tenby exile, Ashley Hooper, who lives in London, for the challenge which is taking place on April 14.
Tenby Turkeys Pat, Dai and Brian have all successfully completed the 26-mile gruelling run on several previous occasions and have raised large sums of money for various good causes in pounding the streets of the city.
This, however, will be Ashley's first marathon in the capital and once he passes the finishing post he will not only receive a commemorative medal from the organisers, but he will become a member of the Tenby Turkeys!
All four runners are this year raising money for the Welsh Air Ambulance and will be kick-starting their fund-raising campaign with a coffee morning at Church House, Tenby, next Saturday (March 30), starting at 10 am. There will be a cake stall, bric-a-brac stall and raffle, with lots of prizes donated by local businesses and individuals, and everyone is welcome.
