BY successfully completing the 2009 Cardiff Half Marathon on October 18, Anthony Wood from Pembroke Dock managed to raise £424.67 in sponsorship for Wales Air Ambulance.

This generous donation from Anthony adds to Pembrokeshire's generous support of the charity as it strives to meet its £5m a year running costs.

Anthony thoroughly enjoyed the day and had warm words for his supporters.

He said: "I'd like to say a great thank you to all my friends and colleagues who sponsored me and also to my employers, Hughes and John, who also supported me. The turnout was really large on the day and all the runners had great support from the crowds along the route. I'm already thinking of taking part next year!"

Mike Ashbridge from the charity thanked Anthony for his support and also for his success in completing the half marathon in a time of just over two hours.

"I'm full of admiration for Anthony; he's not only raised a tremendous sum for the charity, but also enjoyed running over 13 miles. Amazing!"
