Manorbier Youth Club (MYC) has won the prestigious Youth Work Excellence Award for part-time Pembrokeshire youth clubs for the second year running.

The Pembrokeshire Youth Services organise this yearly event to recognise the achievements of young people within their clubs.

Manorbier Youth Club, which meets at Skrinkle Community Hall, won the award for its community-based garden project. Members planned, planted and cared for the garden at Skrinkle and made a special wall-mounted dragon sign which welcomes visitors to the hall.

This has not only made access to the hall easier for new visitors, but has made the whole entrance far more appealing and attractive to the other many groups and individuals who use the hall.

Despite winning the award last year for its music project, the adjudicators were clearly impressed with the club's efforts this year as well, being judged to have achieved the highest standard in winning this award.

The presentation evening was held last Friday, November 21, at the Withybush Pavilion, Haverfordwest.

All the MYC members who attended the evening were justifiably proud of their achievement and were pleased to have their efforts recognised so publicly. They said they were very happy to take part in creating the garden and were delighted to receive the trophy again for a second year.
