Earlier this term, pupils from Manorbier VCP, Class 3, completed another two days towards the John Muir Award. The award, which is administered by the National Trust, aims to raise awareness of the value of wild places and conservation. The children, who spent an exhilarating two days at the National Trust's Education Centre at Stackpole, were obviously having too much fun to notice any educational accolade, however. Their overnight stay, an adventure in itself for seven to nine-year-olds, saw them tackle a whole host of activities; among them, building eco-piles, having scavenger hunts, orienteering and night walks. Gez Richards, Dan, Matt, Julian and Guise were among the team of experts that ensured that the children had a fabulous, safe and stimulating couple of days. Even Manorbier School's very own 'wet gear' ensured that there wasn't too much Stackpole mud bought home for the washing machines of Manorbier. More visits are planned for the future following the undoubted success of this one.
