Manorbier U16 GIRLS 6 Llangyfelach 0
Manorbier maintained their recent sparkling form with a 6-0 victory over Llangyfelach.
The score suggests an easy Manorbier win, but in fact it was a fast, highly competitive match played in very difficult conditions and Llangyfelach should be congratulated for the part they played in a very entertaining game.
Both teams tried to play football and with the score a modest 2-0 at half-time (Sam Lewtas and Mari Griffiths), it was still anybody's game.
Llangyfelach came out strongly in the second half and put Manorbier under a great deal of pressure, but when Sam Lewtas scored with a sweet right foot shot, Llangyfelach's heads went down and there was only going to be one winner after that.
Further goals from Mari Griffiths, Angharad James and Hannah Lewis gave Manorbier a deserved win to keep them in command at the top of the league.
Coach Gerry Rigby was very pleased with the win and paid tribute to his captain, Welsh international, Molly Furnival-Doran.
"Molly is a great captain and an inspiration to the younger girls. She turned up quite distraught having had terrible news regarding a friend, but insisted on playing and gave her usual solid performance. This was typical of her; she leads by example and reflects the spirit of the Manorbier team."
This Sunday, the girls travel away to Dafan.

Manorbier Ladies 7 Pennar 1
Due to the bad weather, Manorbier Ladies switched their match from the club's ground to Tenby's astroturf.
Manorbier took an early lead with a close range effort from the busy Joeleen Lewis.
Despite playing into a very strong wind, Manorbier managed to stretch their lead to 3-1 by half-time.
Unfortunately in the second half, Pennar didn't fair as well playing into the wind and conceded a further three goals.
Goals from Joeleen Lewis (2), Bethan Roberts (2), Sian Bennett and Stacey John gave the home team a much-deserved victory.
