Having the West Wales Texaco Cup under their belt and having secured a place in the League Cup final, Saturday gave Manorbier Under 16 Girls the opportunity to get level on points with Landore and force a play-off for the league title.
All was going well when Manorbier took an early lead when Hannah Lewis turned in a Molly Furnival-Doran volley from close range.
Lewis put the girls 2-0 up with a classic individual goal; having superbly lost her marker, she drew the 'keeper out before slotting the ball home.
A strong Landore side fought back well and managed to get a goal back before half-time, only for Manorbier, who are sponsored by Tesco and the Sports Council for Wales, to increase their lead early in the second-half through player-of-the-match Lewis, giving her a well-deserved hat-trick.
It seemed that Manorbier were heading for a well-earned victory, but Landore had other ideas.
With the home crowd behind them, Landore started to fight back, and Manorbier, who started the game with only 10 players, were beginning to tire and with a couple of players, including Ffion Ashman in goal, having to play on with injuries, the balance began to swing the other way.
Landore fought for every ball and ended up pulling it back to 3-3, and with just five minutes to go, got the all-important winner.
Manorbier coach Gerry Rigby said: "You have to hand it to Landore, they fought back well and I don't want to take anything from them, but we have played at least half our games this season without a full side, so to have done as well as we have is remarkable.
"We have a very talented side, who will stay together next year, but we must recruit more players. To have a full side and substitutes is essential if we are to challenge for honours again next year. We would love to hear from any girls who are interested," he added.
West Wales Ladies Cup final
Haverfordwest Ladies 0
Manorbier Ladies 4
The cup final took place at Bridge Meadow on Sunday, April 26. Pitch and conditions where perfect, and a good crowd turned out to watch.
Joeleen Lewis opened the scoring for Manorbier early in the first half, with Stacey John adding a second when a 25-yard shot found the top corner of the net.
Manorbier dominated the first half, with Rachel Codd in goal not having to save a single shot, while just before half-time Cally Roberts added a third.
Haverfordwest made two changes for the second half and tried to chase the game by adopting the long ball, but Manorbier's back four, led by Carrie Slack, soaked up the early pressure, and carried on from the first half dominating the game.
Manorbier wrapped up the game five minutes from the end when Stacey John broke the offside trap and went on to score a brilliant solo effort, to ensure a satisfying result for the small village club.
Next season Manorbier Ladies will be part of the National League, a small club with huge ambitions and a very successful season behind them.
