Having lost to Crickhowell in the Welsh Cup last week, with only nine players available due to illness, Tesco and SCW sponsored Manorbier Girls U16 football team, took on Landore in their latest match.

Landore were last season's runners-up  to Manorbier in the league and so a competitive match was anticipated.

Manorbier could only field 10 players this week, with captain Molly Furnival-Doran away on international duty with Wales U17s in Romania, so again, it looked to be an uphill task.

Manorbier started with a determination that shook their rivals, and within two minutes went a goal ahead from an attack that started with a move down the right wing and finishing with Sam Lewtas scoring at the far post.

More was to come a few minutes later with an opportunist goal from Angharad James. Further goals from Mari Griffiths, Hannah Lewis and an own goal from a Landore defender attempting to clear a free kick from Angharad Jenkins, meant that Manorbier were five goals up by half-time.

The second half was a continuation of the first, with Manorbier passing and moving with a maturity that impressed all the spectators.

This win by Manorbier  was hugely impressive against a good Landore side, and Pembrokeshire can be proud of what is becoming a very special team.

Coaches Carrie Slack and Gerry Rigby are on the look out for additional players to join this team and should be contacted on 01239 851256 for Gerry or 07815058276 for Carrie.
