Sir, We would like to respond to the article concerning Clr. Calver. Clr. Calver did make the community council aware that he had concerns that areas of Skrinkle Estate and also land at the entry to Wheelers Way could be taken to be developed. Back in March this year, we had applied for outline planning on a large parcel of land near to Skrinkle Estate. We attended the community council meeting when it was being discussed. Clr. Calver said that it would be a better use of land because of the potential risk of more land being used up on Skrinkle Estate and children losing play areas. The community council were not in favour of our land being used for any development. He then attended the National Park meeting and once again voiced his concerns to the planning committee on the housing need in the Manorbier and Jameston area, bringing to their attention his same concerns. Clr. Wales and Clr. Neads, with a handful of neighbours, also attended the same meeting to oppose planning being given. We made it clear to the planning committee that we were willing to help with the housing situation as our own son and partner are finding it really hard to afford proper housing. The National Park turned down the planning application.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferney, Manorbier.
