Much has been happening at Manorbier in recent weeks: three defeats in three games - one 9-0 to Saundersfoot - but the squad seems to be going from strength to strength.

More and more youngsters are queuing to join, and with the recent signings of Mike Ryder and Robbie Vincent, the average age of the squad is falling all the time, which can only be a good sign.

Manorbier started this game full of optimism, with Lawrenny struggling in the league as well as Manorbier.

Manorbier were playing some good football, with Ben Hall and Austin John making probing runs down the flanks, and Phil Chris and Mike Ryder making themselves available.

Phil came closest to scoring at this stage from a Ben Hall cross which went just over the bar, but Lawrenny were catching Manorbier on the break and duly scored on one such occasion, giving Jamesy no chance.

This spurred Lawrenny on and within minutes of the restart they capitalised on a Manorbier defensive error to make it 2-0, much against the run of play.

Manorbier kept their composure, however, and kept playing their passing game, with Phil Kidney and debut boy Robbie Vincent spreading the ball about in midfield.

Ben Hall had a good solo effort come off the upright, and finally Phil Chris scored after a goalmouth melee to make it 2-1 at half-time.

The second half started with Manorbier still making all the play, and deservingly equalising when Ben Hall made a good run up the right wing and crossed for Phil Chris to head past Ashy for his second.

Manorbier were cruising now and giving Lawrenny a torrid time. Then, as many times before, they started to relax, losing 50-50 tackles, which brought Lawrenny back into the game. They had a number of chances, but Jamesy dealt with them easily.

Manorbier got their noses in front with a good move which started with Robbie Izzard - playing in midfield due to Phil Kidney coming off because of an injury and Sam coming on - passing to Ben Hall. Some fine interplay with Mike Brown followed and the ball finally reached Sam who coolly slotted it home.

Now 3-2 up with five minutes left, surely this was Manorbier's game. But it was not to be! Jamesy threw the ball out to the calling Phil Chris, but it went too far and landed at the feet of the Lawrenny striker, and having only Jamesy to beat, it resulted in a goal.

So finally 3-3 and only one point won and yet again two points cruelly given away. But a great game to watch, and surely great promise for the future of Manorbier. Keep it up boys!

NICE BUT...
