Following the unexpected resignation of Mr. Don Beddoes from the community council, a new chairman and vice-chairman had to be elected at the recent monthly meeting. The new chairman elected was Clr. T. Wales, with Clr. P. Griffiths as vice-chairman. The following planning applications were discussed: The Barn, Badgers Holt - one polytunnel (no objection); Landway Farm, Jameston - building for farm machinery (no objection). The clerk confirmed that the annual accounts were with the internal auditor and the audit should be completed in the near future. It was proposed that a sub-committee should be set up consisting of Clr. P. Cooper, Clr. F. Tuffs and Clr. B. Coleman, whose specific aim would be to seek information on the legal and correct way in which the community council should function and to report back to the council. The clerk was to contact the Elections Office following the resignation of Mr. D. Beddoes and follow the procedures as set out for a casual vacancy within the community. The relevant notices had been displayed within the community advertising the vacancy. It was proposed that the council should accept the use of the noticeboard as laid out by the donor. This would be for community council notices only, together with church notices. Following correspondence from BT highlighting the proposed closure of the telephone kiosk in Manorbier Newton, the council had received a letter from Manorbier Newton Community Association asking for support in keeping the kiosk running. The council agreed to offer their support and the clerk was to write a letter to BT requesting that they reconsider their decision due to the geographic position of Manorbier Newton and the limited signals to mobile phones in the area. A letter had been received from Pembrokeshire County Council following concerns by the community council over the speed of traffic travelling through the village. The clerk was asked to write to PCC and advise them that the community council would still like to see the speed limit lowered to 20 mph from Vicarage Fields through the village and would they reconsider their decision. The clerk was to contact the Environment Agency and request the bathing water figures for the current bathing season at Manorbier. The problem of dogs and dogs fouling on Manorbier Beach was discussed. Information from Penally Community Council advising on how they had tackled the problem, together with correspondence from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, was read out and the possible purchase of dog litter bins was to be discussed at the next meeting.
