After winning their qualifying round in Llanelli in March, Manorbier Youth Club's 16-19s six-a-side football team travelled to Newton for the Welsh Youth events championship finals.

Having beaten Powys 4-0 in their semi-final, they went on to play a very strong Denbeigh team in the final. Midway through the second half, with the scores level at 0-0, Ben Hall, beating three players with one of his trademark runs, squared the ball to David Day to slot home the winning goal and cap a fantastic team performance on the day.

Final score: Manorbier 1 Denbeigh 0, making Manorbier Welsh champions.

Squad was: David Day, Austyn John, Mike Ryder, Ben Hall, Gareth Cochrane, Nathan Hughes.

Two other Manorbier Youth Club members, Diana Cochrane and Kira Day, also came home with medals, helping the Tenby junior (14-16) basketball team to the runners-up spot.
