Manorbier travelled up to the Preselis last Thursday to face Maenclochog in the first round of the Alan Brown Cup - a 22-over competition.
Put in to bat, Manorbier started brightly reaching 50 off nine overs, with Mike May (15) and Andrew Nally (21) running well between the wickets.
However, a steady fall of wickets meant Manorbier were unable to keep the momentum. Keith May (15) and Neil Powling (15) had a stand of 25, but no other Manorbier batsman made progress and the innings fizzled out on 91 for 9.
Jamie Straw (3 for 7 off five overs) was the most effective bowler for Maenclochog.
In response, Maenclochog lost an early wicket to Jon Hughes, which gave Manorbier a good start, but opener Rob Nicholas batted well, putting away the bad ball and running well to accumulate 38 not out.
It turned out to be a match-winning innings as, although Manorbier fielded tigerishly and bowled tightly (particularly Justin Evans), Maenclochog were able to scrape home with three balls to spare.
