Pendine manager Frank Roberts insists his team can maintain their Division Two status next season following a fine 3-0 away win against Pembroke Boro over the weekend.
Only three games were possible on Saturday as the incessant rain continued to wreak havoc on the football league programme, with Pendine's away game being one.
The other matches were between Pennar and Johnston in the second round of the Senior Cup, with Pennar coming from behind to win 5-4 after being 4-1 down at one stage, while Angle lost 5-1 against Milford United.
This season hasn't been the kindest to Pendine who have struggled with player availability throughout the season, despite having 50 or so players signed on. The good news is that some influential players have decided to return, while Roberts hopes a few more may follow suit.
"Having Robbie Waters back is a huge bonus," said the recently retired auditor. "He makes a huge difference to us and his two goals certainly put us on the right track against the Boro.
"It would be nice if we could get Peter Roberts back from Johnstown, too, especially with Justin (Blewitt) having gone to Narberth in the pre-season, but I'm determined we'll stay in Division Two and improve as the season goes on."
Prior to this match, the Gulls were languishing second from bottom, but the win has allowed them to leapfrog two places.
Although they are bottom of the division, the Boro are never an easy team to break down, especially at home and especially in soggy conditions, but once Waters got the ball rolling, the game was never in doubt.
Steven Jones added a second, before Waters finished it off. The win was their second of the season, but Roberts knows they face a tough challenge next week against Milford United.
"It was a hard slog against the Boro and we face another tough game next week, but I'm sure we can get stronger as the season goes on. We've got too many good players not to."
